James Henriksen - Homepage
James is a microbiologist and bioinformatician fascinated with solving real-world problems by drawing on our planet’s vast microbial diversity. For the last two decades, he has applied state-of-the-art data analysis along with environmental sampling, enrichment, and culturing approaches to enable new discoveries and applications. He has contributed to discovery and applications of diverse environmental microbial physiology in multiple R1 research academic institutions, biotech start-ups, and a DOE national laboratory.
His current research focus on applications of biochemical transformations as part of the Climate Solutions Lab, exploration of microbial resources as a founder and Director of Research and Development of the Two Frontiers Project, and directing the Culturomics Center operating out of the EcoCore Analytical Facility.
James hold an appointment as a Research Scientist in the Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory, and is an affiliate in Chemical & Biological Engineering, Ecosystem Science & Sustainability, and The Nancy Richardson Design Center.
