Yao Zhang - Homepage

Yao Zhang is a research scientist working at NREL since 2016. He is an ecosystem modeler. Primary research interests are to develop and apply models to understand and quantify human and natural controls over ecosystem patterns and processes. Specifically, they include carbon/nitrogen cycling, plant/soil interaction, best management practices, climate change, using satellite imagery and geospatial datasets, and using machine learning in ecosystem data. He is the leading modeler of the MEMS ecosystem model development and also precipitating the development and application of the DayCent ecosystem model.
