NREL Graduate Student Resources

GENERAL: See the NREL Insider (Password Required) for tips about what to do pre- and post-travel to meetings, how to purchase supplies and equipment on and off campus, how to reserve the conference room, and other important information. You can also find the various e-mail aliases for groups at NREL and the weekly schedule of events.

COMPUTING: The Insider also has info about Computer services at NREL, and how to get yourself networked, on and off campus. NREL computer technical advice is generally not cost-free, but another resource for computing available to students is CSU's Academic Computing & Networking Services. This office offers consulting services (free!) and a suite of high speed modems that are available for access to the university systems for a small fee. NREL has its own dial-up, but you might find access easier sometimes if you use the CSU system.

LABORATORY: Research facilities at the NREL are extensive. These include, but are not limited to, shared laboratory space for all sorts of analyses (soil, microbial biomass, elemental, stable isotope, trace gas), many fume hoods, CHN elemental analyzer, mass spectrometer, HPLC and all nature of field equipment. Questions about laboratory space or equipment should be directed to the lab manager, Dan Reuss (danr@nrel.colostate.edu).

OFFICE: Office space is limited at the NREL, but the effort is made to accomodate as many students as possible. Students concerned about space issues should discuss them with their advisor or the Graduate Student Space Representative.

MEETINGS: NREL has semi-monthly ALL-NREL Meetings, to update scientists, technicians, students, and staff on lab issues.
